How harmful is sugar?
It should be understood that in the real sense of the word, sugar does not harm health - that's why it is freely available on sale and as a key ingredient is contained in a huge number of products. Even if you eat a kilogram of sugar at a time, you will not die an instant death.
But despite this, sugar is still harmful to the body. And it's not at all about its high calorie content, as many believe, but rather that for metabolism, sugar is a completely atypical product. Even fifty years ago( not to mention centuries) people ate tens and hundreds of times less sugar.

Almost the entire history of mankind, products with a sweet taste were considered a delicacy - it is a mistake to believe that fruits and honey were easily available. If now you can buy Brazilian mango or Chilean banana at a supermarket at any time of the year, this does not mean that it has always been so.

Why do we love sweets?
The human brain considers sweet taste "encouraging" - a high level of sugar in the blood stimulates the production of hormones that improve mood. That is why the situation is so typical when sweets, chocolate or ice cream try to pamper themselves or even muffle sadness.
The difficulty lies in the fact that this effect is achieved only for a short period of time, after which not only a sharp drop in the level of serotonin and other hormones of joy, but also a general decline in strength - which makes a person again reach for the sweet. This is the main harm of sugar.
Is sugar a drug?
According to the definition, a drug is a substance that causes numbness. Therefore, from a formal point of view, it's wrong to call sugar a drug. However, it definitely causes dependence, since it is difficult to refuse from sugar consumption - and everyone knows about it.
Most people can not imagine life without a sweet, trying to find the most "harmless" type of sugar( unfortunately, both white and brown sugar act on the body the same way) or believe that sweeteners can solve the problem. On the face of a typical example of dependence.

In this case, the faster the carbohydrate is absorbed, the ultimately, it is worse for the body - nutritionists have long warned that fast( or simple) carbohydrates are harmful to health. If you want to lose weight or overcome the dependence on sugar, you should choose carbohydrates with low GI.
Safe replacement of sugar
As we mentioned, the sugar problem does not consist in the sugar itself, but depending on the sweet taste. The attempt to replace white refined sugar with "more useful" reed is only self-deception. If you want to have a slender figure and good health, you will completely abandon the sugar.
In doing so, exercise normalizes metabolism and speeds up the process of "weaning" the body from sugar. Brighter this effect is manifested in long-term cardio workouts of low intensity( for example, long walks) and on strength training for muscle growth.
